The United States is preparing another major naval buildup around Iran, with the USS Theodore Roosevelt moving toward the Middle East as President Donald Trump weighs his next steps in the months-long conflict.
The deployment could give U.S. Central Command as many as three aircraft carriers in or near the region — the USS George Washington, USS George H.W. Bush and USS Theodore Roosevelt — along with their escort ships and thousands of additional sailors and Marines. The possible three-carrier presence would be one of Washington’s biggest naval concentrations of the Iran war.
