Dr. Marc Ruel, a renowned cardiac surgeon at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, is trading his scalpel for a piano to perform with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. CTV's Peter Szperling profiles the classically trained pianist, who says performing is nerve-wracking because the stage lacks the luxury of time afforded during open-heart surgery. The concert is especially poignant for artistic director Eve Legault, who is conducting the man who successfully performed heart surgery on her father. The performance at the Dominion Chalmers Centre will support the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.
