‘XI’S HUGE HEALTH SCARE’: 5-Hour Rest Break Inside Private WH Room, Lunch Meet With Trump CANCELED
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent Washington visit has sparked fresh questions after The Wall Street Journal reported that Chinese officials requested unusually long rest periods during his summit with U.S. President Donald Trump. Beijing reportedly asked for a private room inside the White House where Xi could rest between events and declined a planned working lunch, creating a roughly five-hour gap in his schedule. Xi’s visit to the National Archives was also reportedly much shorter than planned. The Journal noted that jet lag could explain some scheduling changes, while analysts cited by the newspaper said they saw no signs of cognitive decline in Xi’s public appearances. The report comes amid attention on China’s future leadership.
