‘IRAN INVOLVED?’: Netanyahu Aide ‘Drops IRGC Link’ In Flydubai Cockpit Attack; ‘Erase Them’
A violent incident aboard a flydubai flight bound for Israel is now being drawn into Israel’s wider confrontation with Iran — even as investigators are still trying to establish exactly what happened inside the cockpit. Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir praised passengers who helped subdue the suspected attacker and said Israel’s security doctrine must “go up a level.” He called for continued military action toward what he described as “total victory” against Iran, Lebanon, Gaza and the West Bank. The flight was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia after an emergency unfolded onboard. Israeli fighter jets were reportedly scrambled amid initial fears of a possible hijacking, while passengers described a violent confrontation involving the flight crew. The precise sequence of events remains unclear, including whether there was an attempt to deliberately crash the aircraft. The case has drawn comparisons with Israel’s historic response to aviation terrorism, particularly the 1976 Entebbe hijacking, when Israeli commandos carried out a long-range operation to rescue hostages held in Uganda. But the current incident is fundamentally different. There is currently no established evidence linking Iran to what happened on the flydubai flight. That distinction could become critical. If investigators were eventually to establish that an Iranian organisation directed or supported an attack against an Israeli passenger aircraft, the incident could take on a much wider security significance — potentially adding another flashpoint to the already direct confrontation between Israel and Iran. For now, however, the investigation remains incomplete, while Ben-Gvir’s response shows how quickly the incident is being incorporated into Israel’s broader regional security narrative.
