DR Congo’s ruling UDPS party says its acting federal president in Butembo, Marie-Celestin Karondwa, was beaten to death after appearing on a radio programme to raise awareness about the ongoing Ebola outbreak.
According to the party, Karondwa was attacked after the broadcast, with his belongings looted and his house set on fire. He later died from his injuries. However, the identities of the attackers and the exact motive behind the assault remain unclear.
