HORMUZ ‘DEATH’ ZONE: Iran Attacks 19 Ships In 48 Hours, Lays Mines In ‘MOST DANGEROUS’ Escalation

Iran says it targeted 19 vessels in just 48 hours in the Strait of Hormuz, marking its biggest reported wave of attacks on shipping since the war began. According to Iran’s Fars news agency, seven vessels were targeted overnight after 12 attacks the previous night. Tehran says the ships were using an “unauthorized” southern corridor backed by the United States and running through Omani waters. At the same time, Iran says its forces were laying naval mines in the same corridor. That could create a wider threat to commercial shipping, forcing vessels to slow down, reroute or wait for mine-clearance operations. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy chokepoints, making any prolonged disruption significant for global shipping and Gulf oil exports. Iran also claims it captured another U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle in the strait, alleging it was involved in mine-hunting operations.
