Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that Canada intends to impose trade restrictions on goods produced in Israeli settlements, citing concerns over Israel’s endorsement of the E1 settlement scheme and its impact on the possibility of a two-state solution.

Speaking in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Carney said Canada and its partners view the E1 project as a direct threat to peace. Canada, France and the UK had already announced plans to restrict imports from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
