Iran War: 8 U.S. Navy Sailors Attempt Suicide Aboard USS Abraham Lincoln In Embarrassment For Trump
Eight U.S. sailors assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group attempted suicide during a deployment that included combat operations against Iran, according to CNN, citing a letter from Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao to Congress. No sailor died by suicide during the deployment. The carrier strike group had between 6,000 and 7,000 personnel and spent more than six months without a port call while conducting combat operations. The disclosure sheds light on the human and psychological strain surrounding one of the U.S. Navy’s longest recent combat deployments.
