Trump’s Major GREENLAND ANNOUNCEMENT With EU Leaders Watching; Big Message For Europe

U.S. President Donald Trump has hailed a new security agreement with Denmark and Greenland aimed at strengthening security in the Arctic and North Atlantic. The agreement, signed in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, expands the U.S. military and security role in Greenland while Denmark and Greenland have said the pact respects their sovereignty and Greenland’s right to self-determination. Trump called the agreement “tremendous” for Europe, the United States and Greenland, saying the deal had been “long in the making.” The pact follows months of tension over Trump’s push for greater U.S. control of Greenland. The island’s strategic Arctic location has made it increasingly important to U.S., Danish and wider NATO security calculations.
