Three South Korean military personnel were injured after an explosion during an operation inside the western section of the Demilitarized Zone, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said. The blast occurred south of the Military Demarcation Line, with two soldiers evacuated by helicopter. South Korean media said a landmine may have caused the explosion. The incident follows reports of renewed DPRK military fortification work near the DMZ and a recent projectile launch into the East Sea.
