Behind every finished wall is an enormous amount of coordination between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structure, millwork, lighting, and fire protection. Every piece has to find its place without compromising the architecture that comes later.
Air handlers tuck above lowered ceilings in secondary spaces, with concealed access panels for future service. Ductwork routes through soffits that align with millwork instead of cutting randomly through the room. Openings stay protected during construction so dust never becomes part of the finished home.
Electrical boxes center on walls, align with trim, and get laid out from the reflected ceiling plan before anything is installed. Plumbing routes work around structural limits, ceiling heights, tile layouts, and final fixture locations. Rough valves, drains, sprinkler heads, and lighting all land exactly where the finished design expects them.
Coordination like this only happens when the people making the decisions are standing on the job.

That's harder than it sounds in the city. Lose an hour to a supply run and you lose your parking with it. Our supers order through the @HomeDepot Pro Xtra app right from the site. Material comes to us, same day on a lot of items. Nobody leaves. The decisions keep getting made where they matter.
In a few weeks, almost all of this work will disappear.
That's the point.
The systems behind the walls should never dictate the architecture. They should protect it. Great construction means building what was designed, not simply what was easiest to install.
