We went searching for WILD ALLIGATORS in Florida… and somehow ended the day EATING one!
After almost eight weeks travelling thousands of miles across America, we saved one of the most Florida experiences until last — an airboat adventure at Boggy Creek in Kissimmee, Florida.
For David, Elana and Alissa, this was their first-ever airboat ride. But with completely wild alligators, there was absolutely no guarantee we'd actually find one.
We explore Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures, head out across the Central Florida wetlands in search of wild American alligators, discover an alligator nest, learn more about these incredible animals… and eventually get the encounter we'd been hoping for.
But there was one more thing we wanted to know: what does alligator actually taste like?
When Boggy Creek had run out of gator, the search continued — eventually taking this British family to Gator's Dockside to try gator tail for the very first time.
And after almost eight weeks travelling across America as a family, this adventure also got us thinking about something much bigger: why have we fallen in love with America so much?
From Florida to Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Canada, Upstate New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, this journey has introduced us to incredible places, food, history and traditions. But more than anything, it's been the people we've met — and all of you who've helped shape this adventure.
We're heading back to Britain with a VERY long list of American foods to try, recipes to recreate, and places still left to discover.
