‘IT’S A DISASTER!’: Merz ROCKED As AfD Storms To Victory, CDU Crushed In German State Poll

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has admitted that the result in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania “cannot be sugar-coated” and called it “a disaster” for his CDU. The party suffered a major setback as the AfD secured around 37.9% of the vote, while the CDU was reported at around 5%. Merz said the CDU had fought hard but was caught between the SPD and AfD, while vowing that reforms would continue despite the electoral blow. The result comes just weeks after another major setback for the CDU in Saxony-Anhalt, where the AfD also made significant gains.
