WHOLE FRIED FISH | & The Big Flood — A Veteran's Traditional Fish Preservation Method. After days of heavy rain, a massive volume of water surged into the area, causing a major flood. The strong current swept a large number of fish downstream, with many ending up in the low-lying areas near our home.

Seizing the opportunity, I grabbed my traditional fishing gear and headed to the flooded area. To my surprise, I caught a bountiful haul and brought it home to process and preserve using traditional methods.

I carefully cleaned the fish and fried them whole over a traditional wood-burning stove. The crackling fire, the mouth-watering aroma of frying fish, and the simple preservation technique evoked memories of the traditional rural lifestyle passed down through generations.

After preparing the fish, I took some to the local market to sell. Late in the afternoon, I returned home and went to pick up Tieu Nhu from school.

After a long day, we sat down together to enjoy the golden, crispy fried fish. It was a simple meal, yet incredibly delicious because it was the fruit of our own labor and a gift from nature following the flood.

And of course, we couldn't forget Milu. I set aside a special portion for our beloved dog so he could enjoy the meal along with us. ❤️
