Bluesfest organizers wanted to announce July fireworks in Ottawa

CTV's Katie Griffin reports on documents obtained through a Freedom of Information request that shed light on the decision to launch unused Canada Day fireworks during Bluesfest. The fireworks were launched just before 11 p.m. on July 9 after the Canada Day show at Lebreton Flats was cancelled due to a storm. Bluesfest organizers expressed concerns about surprising residents and reputational risks, while city staff asked that the show not be promoted in advance. Bluesfest CEO Mark Monahan says the fireworks should have been announced.
