Indonesia ferry capsizes in Java Sea, at least 100 rescued

At least 100 people have been rescued after the Virgo Transport 8 ferry capsized in the Java Sea, Indonesia, while travelling between Surabaya and Banjarmasin.

The vessel encountered adverse weather conditions before sinking, according to Mohammad Syafii of Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency. A large-scale rescue operation involving helicopters and naval assets is continuing as authorities search for those still missing.
