Sometimes a growing firewood business creates some pretty good problems to have.

With my daughter back in school, I've finally got more time in the woodyard—and apparently I'm going to need it! I start by building a simple pallet firewood bin that holds almost exactly one full cord, stack the dump trailer load, and make the first firewood delivery of the season to my parents. Then things start changing almost as quickly as I can make firewood.

I'm finding new ways to sell firewood: baskets delivered directly to customers, bulk dump trailer loads, and now the possibility of selling bulk firewood straight from the woodyard. That means I need to rethink my workflow and figure out how to produce more efficiently.

And that leads to today's big payoff.

The Eastonmade Axis conveyor wasn't throwing firewood far enough into my dump trailer, so instead of buying something, I dug through what I already had and built a simple adjustable conveyor extension/deflector for basically $0. The result worked even better than I expected!

Sometimes growing a small business isn't about buying more equipment. It's about solving the next problem with what you've already got.
