Most people discovered Nene Royal on America's Got Talent.
But Nene Royal's story didn't begin on that stage.
In Episode 3 of Nene Royal: The Journey, we're going back to the musical world that helped shape the artist we see today.
Before the Golden Buzzer.
Before the AGT stage.
Before millions of people around the world discovered her…
there was Thailand.
There was Phuket.
There were live performances.
There was OZONE.
And, most importantly, there was the guitar.
In this episode, we're reacting to a performance that gives us another look at Nene's development as a musician and performer.
I'll be looking at the technical side of her playing, including rhythm, picking, synchronization, phrasing, articulation and the incredible coordination required to sing and play guitar at the same time.
But we're also looking at something equally important:
What does performing live in Thailand teach a young musician?
Playing in a busy environment is completely different from performing on a television stage.
You have to earn the audience's attention.
You have to deal with noise, distractions and unpredictable situations.
And you have to keep performing.
That kind of experience can build something that technical lessons alone cannot create:
stage instinct.
This is another chapter in Nene Royal's journey.
Because America's Got Talent didn't create Nene Royal.
It introduced her to a much bigger audience.
The artist was already there.
🇹🇭 And to everyone watching from Thailand: this journey is also something to be proud of.
