Canadian consumers and businesses are feeling the immediate impact of the trade war as Canada's new counter-tariffs on American imports take effect. CTV's Dylan Dyson reports that McMullan Appliance and Mattress owner Corey McMullan saw prices on U.S.-made washers and dryers jump $540 overnight because the manufacturer could not disperse the tariff costs. Cash & Carry Carpet Centre co-owner George Papadopoulos says he is trying to hold off on raising prices but expects a 10 to 15 per cent increase once inventory dissipates. University of Ottawa political science professor Charles-Étienne Beaudry warns that the tit-for-tat measures between Canada and the U.S. could lead to stagflation and job losses.
