Ohio’s governor race took a dramatic turn after Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy launched a blistering attack on Democratic rival Amy Acton, calling the prospect of her becoming the state’s first socialist governor “God forbid” and branding her debate refusal “disqualifying.”

The remarks came as Acton was caught up in a separate security scare at the Canfield Fair, where armed suspect Patrick Havas was arrested after allegedly charging toward her. Acton was unharmed, and Ramaswamy’s campaign condemned the incident.
