Welcome to your latest Grand strategy game news! A lot has happened including brand new game reveals and I have a lot of great updates on games you are already familiar with so lets start with the one that is probably most anticipated of them all!
And that is of course Warhammer 40K Total War of which we have a lot of new info and footage coming from gamescom. What probably interests you the most is when is beta access going to start and what is the expected release date. Well the full release will happen at some point during 2027, while the beta starts… very soon. But shhh, you didn’t hear this from me if anyone asks.
Gameplay wise there are lots of surprises. Campaign maps don’t have terrain but just regions, board game style, and while you do see your pieces move like in previous games with arrows and actions points, there are no army stances, ambushes or terrain obstacles. But there is critical infrastructure to capture, defend or upgrade to gain bonuses. Lore wise, since this is the tech level of the 40th millennium it makes more sense, but it is hard to get used to. Crusade Theaters are a new way of organizing campaign progress across 10 or so individual smaller campaigns with an introduction, conquest and final battle.
