Many Canadians say political tensions and costs are altering Canada-U.S. border travel habits for the Labour Day weekend. CTV's Josh Marano speaks with Prescott boater Daniel Fredette, who says he no longer makes his usual trip to Clayton, New York, because he wants to spend his money locally. Sandra S. Lawn Harbour and Marina supervisor Teresa Jansman notes that the water is no longer shared, while New Wexford resident Cheryl Saunders says the exchange rate is making trips more expensive. Statistics Canada data shows automobile return trips from the U.S. in July were nearly 30 per cent lower than in July 2024.
