More than a week after catastrophic flash floods struck the Himalayas, forensic crews in Nepal are facing the difficult task of collecting and identifying the bodies of victims.
The death toll in Nepal stands at more than 1,200, with more than 4,200 people still missing. The hardest-hit area is Rasuwa, close to the border with China, where entire villages have been wiped out.
Many areas remain cut off, with aid workers and rescue crews only able to reach affected communities by helicopter. The scale of the destruction has made recovery and identification efforts especially difficult.
Al Jazeera’s Jessica Washington travelled to the border town of Timure in Rasuwa District, where the devastation from the floods is widespread.
