Trump may be looking for a way out of the Iran war — but the Pentagon appears to be preparing for a much longer confrontation.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump is privately discussing declaring the Iran conflict over, while believing economic pressure could eventually force Tehran to dismantle its nuclear program or collapse. At the same time, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is extending U.S. military deployments in the Middle East into 2027.
Adding another layer, NBC News reports that Hegseth removed at least six one-star Army generals from a list of officers selected for promotion to two-star rank and has blocked dozens of other senior military promotions.
