Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has announced an emergency shutdown of 110 commercial driving schools over what he says are thousands of violations involving federal English-language proficiency requirements.
“You have to speak English to operate a commercial motor vehicle,” Duffy said, arguing that the requirement has been part of federal law for decades. According to Duffy, the schools being targeted account for around 5,000 violations.
