Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has highlighted the potential of drone technology to transform healthcare delivery in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of the state. He reviewed a drone project focused on transporting essential medicines, medical equipment and emergency supplies to areas with limited road connectivity. The initiative aims to improve access to critical medical services and enable faster delivery during emergencies.
Meanwhile, Kerala marked the conclusion of the Onam celebrations with traditional cultural performances, including the colourful Pulikali, or tiger dance. Performers painted their bodies in bright tiger-like patterns and danced to the rhythm of traditional drums as part of the popular folk tradition.
In Maharashtra, a crude oil tanker travelling from Pune towards Mumbai caught fire on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway after reportedly experiencing brake failure. The tanker overturned in the Khalapur section of the expressway. Police sources said the driver was trapped inside following the accident, but rescue personnel managed to safely pull him out.
In another major development, the Central Bureau of Narcotics has seized more than 66 lakh psychotropic tablets during Operation Vajra 2.0. The seizure reportedly included medicines containing substances such as alprazolam, tramadol and nitrazepam. Authorities found 20 master cartons inside a truck, with invoices, batch numbers and expiry details reportedly missing or deliberately erased. One person has been arrested and the truck has been seized as investigators work to trace the alleged manufacturing and distribution network behind the pharma diversion racket.
