Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, is expected to give a fresh direction to India's strategic partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic, with defence cooperation, trade and physical connectivity emerging as key areas of focus.
Speaking to WION's Sidhant Sibal, India's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Birender Singh Yadav said PM Modi's third visit to the Kyrgyz Republic is primarily aimed at attending the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of State Summit.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The two leaders are likely to review the full range of India-Kyrgyzstan relations and discuss the next phase of engagement.
The visit comes as India and Kyrgyzstan continue to deepen their strategic partnership, with cooperation expanding across defence, security, counterterrorism, trade and connectivity.
