A dedicated group of conservation volunteers is helping to boost at-risk reptile populations by releasing 400 baby turtles into the Ottawa River. CTV's Peter Szperling speaks with Friends of Petrie Island wildlife technician Jordan-Anne Rich, who says the group collects vulnerable eggs to protect them from foxes and raccoons. The collected eggs are safely hatched inside a specialized incubator located at the Cumberland branch of the Ottawa Public Library. The organization hosted several public release days in August to educate families on local conservation efforts and the century-long lifespan of snapping turtles.
