An escalating trade war with the United States is forcing many Canadian small businesses to abandon the American market. CTV's Natalie van Rooy visits Hummingbird Chocolate Maker in Almonte, Ont. to speak with owner Erica Gilmour, who says the company is now focusing its export efforts on Europe and Asia. Canadian Federation of Independent Business representative Corinne Pohlmann says the latest round of border tariffs is directly impacting thousands of exporting members. The Almonte chocolate company previously sent roughly 16 per cent of its online orders to American customers before unpredictable brokerage fees made the shipments unsustainable.
