Russian Navy More Powerful Than Entire NATO Fleet? UK Army Warns NATO Ally, Including Mighty US
The UK's top naval commander has issued a stark warning over Russia's growing undersea military capabilities. Royal Navy chief General Sir Gwyn Jenkins says Britain and its NATO allies could face potentially "catastrophic events" as Russia expands its fleet of advanced submarines and develops technology capable of targeting critical underwater infrastructure.
Jenkins also revealed that the Royal Navy spent more than a third of its operational time in 2025 responding to Russian undersea activity, highlighting the scale of the threat. British defence intelligence believes Russia's new Khabarovsk-class submarine is significantly harder to detect and could carry the Poseidon nuclear-powered underwater weapon.
As tensions between the UK and Russia continue to escalate over the Ukraine war, concerns are growing that the next major conflict could begin beneath the waves.
