Bosnian Serb General Ratko Mladic, who was serving a life sentence for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the 1992–95 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has died at a UN detention centre in The Hague, a UN official says. Mladic was convicted by a UN war crimes tribunal in 2017. His convictions included responsibility for the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in which at least 8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed.
