Join us in the cockpit of the new SWISS Airbus A350-900 for a flight from Zurich to Nice and back.

We follow the crew through the full short-haul operation, from the pre-flight briefing of both pilots and cabin crew, to departure out of Zurich and the approach into Nice, dodging thunderstorms and encountering moderate turbulence as we go. Then it's a tight turnaround complicated by weather and ATC slot restrictions, followed by a glorious sunset on the way back to Switzerland. All onboard HB-IFA, the gorgeous Wanderlust-liveried A350 that was the first to join the SWISS fleet.
SWISS is introducing the Airbus A350 as the newest long-haul aircraft in its fleet, with 10 A350-900s planned. The aircraft is already operating long-haul services from Zurich and will gradually take on more destinations as additional aircraft arrive.
We also look at what it takes to become a SWISS pilot. Aspiring pilots can begin their training through the European Flight Academy, while experienced A320 pilots can apply directly to SWISS through its Airbus A320 First Officer Direct Entry programme before progressing through the airline's internal career path.
