‘LOADED WITH EXPLOSIVES’: NATO Scrambles F-16 Jets To Shoot Down ‘Russian Aircraft’ In Big Showdown

A major security scare erupted over the Black Sea after a Romanian F-16 fighter jet destroyed a marine drone reportedly carrying explosives near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project. Romania’s defence minister said the drone did not originate from Ukraine, while President Nicusor Dan accused Russia of escalating what he called irresponsible incidents. Two Romanian F-16s were scrambled after the drone was spotted just hundreds of metres from the offshore energy project. This incident occurs amid a growing number of drone incursions and crashes across NATO’s eastern flank as the Russia-Ukraine war continues to spill beyond Ukraine’s borders.
