A fresh security alert has emerged in Europe after Bulgaria tightened security at the Bezmer Air Base amid reports that Iranian forces assessed potential military targets in southeastern Europe. The move comes weeks after Bulgaria approved the temporary deployment of US Air Force KC-135 aerial refuelling aircraft and up to 250 US military personnel at the strategically important base to support American operations in the Middle East. Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said authorities have taken "all possible measures" and are maintaining security precautions beyond the current assessed threat level.
