Russia- Ukraine War: Kyiv Hit By Russian Ballistic Missiles, At Least 8 Killed In Overnight Strike

Kyiv was rocked by a major Russian missile attack early Thursday, August 20, with Russian ballistic missiles striking the Ukrainian capital. Authorities said the overnight attack killed at least eight people and injured dozens. Buildings were damaged across the city, while fires broke out at multiple locations. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said people were trapped inside a residential building and that non-residential facilities, warehouses and a children’s hospital were also hit. Parts of the capital were left without power following the strikes.
Ukraine’s emergency services released footage showing rescue teams battling fires and helping people escape damaged buildings.

The latest attack comes as Russia and Ukraine continue near-daily attacks, more than four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Europe have so far failed to produce a lasting ceasefire.
