China Lands Reusable Rocket Booster, Closing Gap With SpaceX | WION Podcast

China’s commercial space sector has reached a major milestone after LandSpace successfully recovered the first stage of its Zhuque-3 rocket. The achievement makes LandSpace the first Chinese company to land an orbital-class booster on land using deployable landing legs, advancing the country’s reusable launch ambitions. Zhuque-3 uses stainless steel construction and methane with liquid oxygen, while LandSpace ultimately hopes to reuse its boosters repeatedly to lower launch costs. The company now faces the harder challenge of proving that recovery can become reliable, repeatable and commercially viable, with a recovered booster targeted for another flight within six months. The breakthrough brings China another step closer to competing in a reusable rocket market where SpaceX remains the benchmark for high-frequency operations.
