What follows is a voyage east through waters that have swallowed everyone who came before: a companion lost to a quiet island, a blind prophet tormented by harpies, and two enormous cliffs that open and close on anything caught between them.

But surviving the Clashing Rocks turns out to be the easy part. Beyond them, in the fog, something has been sleeping in the sea for a very long time — and it is beginning to wake.
