Physicists Find Evidence for Rare Particle Made of Pure Force | WION Podcast

Physicists have found compelling evidence for the long predicted glueball, an exotic subatomic state believed to be made entirely from gluons, the carriers of the strong nuclear force. Researchers studying the X(2370) particle analysed massive numbers of high energy collision events to measure its mass, spin and decay behaviour. Their latest results indicate that the candidate also shows the flavour singlet behaviour expected from a true glueball. If confirmed, the discovery could provide an important new test of quantum chromodynamics and deepen our understanding of how the strong force behaves. More collision data will still be needed before scientists can definitively establish that the elusive particle has finally been found.
