In October of 1915, Ernest Shackleton stood on the ice of the Weddell Sea and watched it crush his ship. Twenty-eight men were ordered to carry two pounds of belongings from the wreck — and Shackleton opened the Bible Queen Alexandra had given the expedition, tore out a page from the book of Job, and carried the Word of God when survival was being weighed in ounces. Five hundred days later, three starving men walked thirty-six hours across mountains no map had ever charted. Afterward, Shackleton wrote one trembling confession about that march that he never spoke aloud at the time — and it is the reason this message exists.
This morning devotional walks through three truths: your first thought belongs to God, because God has always asked His people for the first portion and the first carries authority over all the rest (Psalm 143:8, Matthew 6:33, Psalm 5:3, Psalm 63:1, Genesis 24:12) — there is a war over your first thought, because the very first attack in human history was a thought offered to an unguarded mind (Genesis 3:1, 2 Corinthians 10:5, Romans 8:6) — and God Himself guards the surrendered day, the way His camp was already stationed beside Jacob's before Jacob ever saw it (Isaiah 26:3, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Genesis 32:1-2). Along the way you will hear the hidden reason so many believers lose this battle before breakfast. It is not weakness, and it is not lack of faith.
Stay to the end for a blessed prayer over your morning, your family, your finances, your healing and your breakthrough, in the mighty name of Jesus.
