The Yabloko party, Russia’s only officially registered party openly opposing the war in Ukraine, has been barred from September’s State Duma elections. The Supreme Court cancelled its registration after a nationalist party accused Yabloko of copyright violations and foreign funding, a case Yabloko calls politically motivated. Its leaders are appealing while continuing regional campaigns, amid prosecutions and long jail terms for prominent members. The outcome will decide if anti-war voters can back Yabloko candidates at the polls.
