‘ACT NOW, ELSE...’: Iran Prepares Air Force Move Against Qatar? Missing Pilots Spark Big Fight

A fresh dispute is escalating between Iran and Qatar over the fate of three Iranian pilots Tehran says are missing after two Su-24 bombers were shot down in March. Brigadier General Mohammad Bagherzadeh, head of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff Missing in Action Search Committee, says a team of highly qualified Iranian Air Force experts has been waiting for months for permission to enter Qatar and conduct an on-site investigation. Iran has accused Qatar of obstructing the inquiry and claims the pilots are being held there. Qatar has rejected that claim, saying it recovered only the remains of one pilot and has invited Tehran to review the search. The competing claims have now opened a new and sensitive dispute between Tehran and Doha over what happened to the missing pilots.
