A Nile crocodile roughly fifteen feet long lies at the deepest point, able to hold its breath for up to ninety minutes and fast for months on end. It has turned waiting itself into a weapon. While zebra retreat more than two thirds of a mile every night to cut their chance of meeting a lion by roughly sixty percent, while elephants dig wells in dry streambeds that end up watering every species around them, the crocodile simply remains.
