Karnataka BJP Protests Over All-Male Cabinet | DKS Govt Faces Heat Over Lack Of Women Ministers

The Karnataka government led by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is facing criticism from the BJP over the absence of women ministers in the state Cabinet.

BJP legislators staged a protest inside the Vidhana Soudha premises, accusing the Congress government of being “anti-women” and demanding greater representation for women in the Cabinet.

Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra led the protest alongside Assembly Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka and Legislative Council Leader of Opposition C. Narayanaswamy.

The controversy intensified after the recent Cabinet expansion increased the strength of the ministry to 33, but no woman was inducted. Reports said Gayathri Shantigowda, who was reportedly the only woman considered, was absent from the swearing-in ceremony after her name was dropped at the last minute.

The BJP has also linked the issue to the wider debate over 33% women's reservation in legislatures and accused the Congress government of failing to provide adequate representation to women.
