Garden designer Paul Morrow and gardener Mart Veerhus share their method of planting a narrow flower border, including how to combine perennials and annuals, use taller plants in a small space, choose and repeat colours, add evergreen structure and arrange plants so that the result looks natural rather than over-planned.
We also look at how Paul and Mart make the most of every inch of these small borders, including dramatically cutting back some established plants to make room for summer annuals, allowing self-seeders to find their own places, discreetly staking taller plants and using drip irrigation.
