Economist Jeffrey Sachs delivered a blunt assessment of the growing US-China economic and technological rivalry while speaking at the Singapore Economic Review Conference. Sachs argued that China is already far ahead of the United States in key areas of the green economy, including renewable energy, electric vehicles, batteries and digital infrastructure. He said the US no longer has the industrial ecosystem needed to match China’s capabilities and warned that Asia could become the center of the next industrial revolution. Sachs also highlighted China’s growing role in global investment and technology, while discussing the challenges facing the US, India and ASEAN economies.
