Sednaya prison survivor recounts torture under Bashar al Assad’s rule

Sednaya prison near Damascus was known in Syria as a “human slaughterhouse”, where thousands were imprisoned during the rule of Bashar al Assad.

After the fall of the Assad regime, Al Jazeera spoke with former inmates released from the prison. Kanaan Mohamed, who was arrested in Aleppo in 2006, spent six years in prison, including three and a half years in Sednaya.
