Anas al-Sharif: A Year Since Gaza’s Voice Is Silenced

Monday marks one year since Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif is killed in an Israeli strike on a media tent outside Al Shifa Hospital. At 28, he becomes one of Gaza’s defining voices, documenting bombardment, displacement and hunger. Gaza’s Media Office says 257 Palestinian journalists and media workers are killed since October 2023, including 11 from Al Jazeera, as Israel’s war and risks to journalists continue.
