Welcome back to Taiwan! Today we’re checking out their revolutionary E1000 locomotives, which, after around 30 years of service, have just been retired from the railway network. Originally imported from South Africa, which on the surface might seem strange, there’s actually a really interesting story behind them, but ultimately it perhaps ended up being a bit of a mistake. So join me for a ride through western Taiwan as we check out these bizarre yet revolutionary express trains during one of their final months of operation.
