Typhoon Dolphin Nears China’s East Coast | Torrential Rain, Force 13 Winds and Red Alert in Zhejiang

Typhoon Dolphin is approaching China’s eastern coast, bringing torrential rain and powerful winds to parts of Zhejiang Province as authorities prepare for possible severe weather.

Public and construction-site cameras captured heavy rain and strong winds lashing Yuhuan County in Taizhou, with visibility severely reduced at a busy ferry terminal. Coastal winds have continued to strengthen and are expected to reach Force 9 to 11.

A power plant in Taizhou recorded Force 13 winds around 11 a.m. on Sunday, while more than 60 millimetres of rain fell within six hours. The facility completed reinforcement work on large machinery and secured temporary structures ahead of the storm.

China’s national observatory has activated a red alert, the highest level in the country’s typhoon warning system.

According to the National Meteorological Center, Typhoon Dolphin is expected to make landfall along China’s east coast, between Sanmen in Zhejiang and Fuding in Fujian, from Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday.
