Carbide Willson Ruins get $1M update

The National Capital Commission has unveiled a $1-million rehabilitation of the historic Carbide Willson Ruins tucked away in the forest of Gatineau Park. CTV's Camille Wilson speaks with public programs manager Calina Ellwand, who says the cement stabilization and new accessible lookouts will help the 1913 fertilizer plant ruins last for generations. Local hikers Warren Place and Marie Schingh praise the new vantage points and reopened bridges that make the Meech Lake trail more accessible for families. The historic industrial site now welcomes over 40,000 visitors a year and features new interpretation plaques detailing its unique heritage.
